I started reading comics again 3 years ago for the first time since high school. Amazing Spider-man was an old favorite of mine and I was curious to see what JMS was doing with the chracter. For the most part I really love JMS writing Spider-man. I feel like he really gets Peter Parker, specially his relationship with Mary Jane and Aunt May. Except for the Gwen Stacy/Norman Osborne love childs from a year ago I think he's been very very good, even moving the mythos slightly forward.

I've been mostly staying away from Civil War but I have been enjoying the Spider-man unmasked story line.

I also highly recomend checking out Supreme Power, also by JMS. Basic premise, what if Superman was found by the military as a baby instead of the Kent's. Marvel just moved it from it's Maxx line and renamed it Squadron Supreme, but the old issues are totally worth it if they have been collected into a a trade.

Rising Stars (also JMS) is excellent and has been collected into 3 volmues. Highly recommended.

There are some good regular books coming out and the current focus at the big two seems to be writers over artists right now. Peter David's X-factor is a fun detective book. Y the Lats Man is excellent but I think it's nearing the end (all collected in trades). I'm currently hooked on Runaways.

DC is doing some huge continuity heavy stuff. Geoff Johns somehow manages to make decades of continuity effortless to keep up with. His run on the Flash is fantastic and it's just been collected on trades.

Now if only Millar could get Ultimates out more frequently.
