Haute Cheesesteak
Now that I’ve lived in Philadelphia for over a year, I can say it’s probably the most unpretentious city I’ve been in. This is exemplified by its signature food, the Philly Cheesesteak. But there’s been a rash of fancy restaurants opening up around town, so we now have the $100 Cheesesteak:
Served with a small bottle of champagne, Barclay Prime’s cheesesteak is made of sliced Kobe beef, melted Taleggio cheese, shaved truffles, sauteed foie gras, caramelized onions and heirloom shaved tomatoes on a homemade brioche roll brushed with truffle butter and squirted with homemade mustard.

$100 is a bargain compared to what I’d have to spend for my dream meal at Per Se ($300 per person, not including tip).
Man, I miss Sophie’s lunch truck. Best. Cheesesteaks. Ever.
