Hair Saloon, and The Smell of Old New York

Topic: Japan 2007

Here are a couple signs that definitely weren’t proofread by a native English speaker. I actually saw the “Hair Saloon” mistake a few times in various neighborhoods around Tokyo.

Ah, the “saloon” mistake. I’ve never been to Japan, but I first saw that mistake in Malaysia. It’s rampant there and in Singapore. The first conversation I had about them with some local folks must have went like this:

Me: I should get my hair trimmed.

Them: I can take you to a saloon.

Me: No thanks, I just want to get some hair cut, not get drunk.

    Them: ?!?!

    Good times…
