Alexander’s Doughnut Article
My nephew Alexander is in high school, and he wrote the hilarious essay below for his school paper. Alexander has Asperger Syndrome. It’s a condition that has been getting a lot of attention recently: Temple Grandin has Asperger’s, and recently had a movie made about her, and she gave this excellent TED talk about Asperger’s. She describes some of the different Asperger types: visual thinkers, pattern thinkers, and verbal thinkers. As you may have guessed, Alexander definitely falls into the verbal category. Also, the famous pitcher Curt Shilling and his wife Shonda just released a book describing their family’s experience with Asperger’s.
