Shashin 2.3 Is Coming…
I’ve been getting more emails than ever about Shashin, and it’s been many months since the last version. I’m about halfway through a full re-write of Shashin. The new version will feature:
- Improved database security
- Internationalization
- Most (maybe all) of Brian Hsu’s feature additions
- Simplified approach to displaying all the photos in an album (you won’t need the salbumphotos tag anymore)
- Automated scheduled album syncing
- Various new tag options
- And, of course, bug fixes
Since it’s a full re-write, it will need some testing, so I’ll release it initially on my site only, as a beta version. So stay tuned – look for it in 2-3 weeks.

Hi AS – I looked at your site, but I can’t quite tell what is going on. The code looks like a mix of output from Shashin and from something else. Are you using another plugin for photos at the same time, or did you edit the Shashin code?

Thank you, Mike answered.
I have not changed the code, I use “[salbum=1,y,y,left]“,no”".
Please look to this address error

Thank you for help.

Thanks for you great plug in, but do you know if the newest version of WordPress 2.7 is causing issue with the “sync all” command? I’m trying to add a new album that I have created. When I select “sync all” the browser acts like it is going to work, but then the list of albums do not show up. I’ve tried this in both Firefox and Chrome without success. I’m using 2.2.1 of your Shashin plug in. Any help you can give is greatly appreciated!

…I have further tried to use IE also without success. It also appears that even adding a picture and trying to “sync” an existing album doesn’t work either. Sigh…I guess that’s what I get for upgrading to WordPress 2.7 without testing out things before hand. Please help…I’m lost without the ease of your plug in.

Hi Chris – Sorry for the delay writing back – I haven’t been keeping up with my email over the holidays. I haven’t upgraded to WP 2.7 yet, but I’ve heard from others who have, and they say Shashin is fine with it. But it sounds like you have trouble that started after upgrading. In your previous message, did you mean that albums you had previously sync’d with Shashin are no longer appearing in the Shashin admin list? And, do you get any kind of an error message when you try to sync?

Hi Mike and Chris,
I currently use Shashin with WP 2.7 and don’t have any issue sync albums or picasa accounts. This plugin works OK.
@Mike: if you want I can test your 2.3 version on my blog. I currently sync lot of images and have discrete knowledge of 2.x version and tags.
Good work,
Salvatore

Hello Mike, I am using WP 2.7 and your latest Shashin, i.e. 2.1. Install seems OK; when entering my first Picasa URL, however, I keep getting the message: “Failed to add album. This was probably a bad connection trying to read the RSS feed. Please try again.”
Looking in MySql, I do find WP-options for Sashin, but not the two tables wp\_shashin\_album and wp\_shashin\_photo
Would that look like a familiar problem?

Hi Willem – The most common reason for this is using Shashin with a version of mySQL prior to 4.1. Can you check your mySQL version? You can find out by typing “status” at a mySQL command prompt (or through a tool like phpMyAdmin).

Hello, your plug-in Shashin good, but not connected to the image of the original features and now can only connect 800pixels, hope that can be added to connect the original picture. Thanks.

Hi AS – Google doesn’t allow embedding Picasa images above size 800. See here: http://code.google.com/apis/picasaweb/reference.html#Parameters

Hi Mike, great plugin, have been using it for a while. But I just upgraded to 2.7 and noticed an issue. Before when I clicked on a thumbnail, it would use Highslide and teh image would enlarge and do all the other slick things that Highslide can do. Now, when I click a thumbnail, it just opens the full size in a new page. Any ideas??
January 9th, 2009 at 9:25 am
Hi Andrew – sorry for the late reply. Something has gone wrong with the path to your Highslide files. Try deactivating and then reactivating Shashin, in case you forgot to do that during your upgrade. I haven’t seen anything like that so far with WP 2.7 upgrades though…
If that doesn’t fix it, please send me your url, and I’ll take a look.

Hi there. I just want to remove the borders from around the pictures (I think I figured that out in Shasin.css) and the background border that goes around all the albums. Basically, I want it to look like yours does. How to?

Hi Patrick,
My site is using the default styles from shashin.css. So if your Shashin images don’t look like mine, then styles from your theme must be affecting the Shashin images. I’d recommend looking through the stylesheet for your theme – you’ll probably need to edit shashin.css to have it turn off certain styles just for the Shashin images.
