In Greek it means victory of the people (part of origin from Nike the goddess of victory). I did see that there is a city in Japan called Nikko...some history of Samurai there. I know this guy that goes by Masa as short for Masayoshi, "Good General" is what it means in his case. People really seem to enjoy saying his name, that's for sure.
